Early intervention

The stages of thyroid problems

Tired, cold, foggy; results "normal"
2
Antibodies rising
Hashimoto's developing, often unnoticed
3
Subclinical
TSH creeping up; symptoms building
4
Diagnosed
Underactive thyroid, starting treatment
5
Still struggling
On medication, symptoms persist
6
Complex
Multiple autoimmune or hormone issues
Stages 1–4 · The window where early care makes the most difference
Stages 5–6 · Requiring a full diagnostic work-up with specialist labs and in-depth care

Stages 1–4 · The early intervention window

Stage 1

Early changes

Tiredness, feeling cold and brain fog, while routine results come back "normal".

Our focus: A full history and the Thyroid Profile to map the pattern early.

Stage 2

Antibodies rising

In Hashimoto's, the immune system starts attacking the thyroid, often years before TSH changes.

Our focus: Checking thyroid antibodies, and the triggers that drive them.

Stage 3

Subclinical

TSH starts to creep up while T4 stays in range, and symptoms build.

Our focus: Functional blood chemistry and the five contributing factors.

Stage 4

Diagnosed

An underactive thyroid is diagnosed and treatment starts with your GP.

Our focus: Supporting nutrients, gut, liver and blood sugar so treatment works as well as it can.

The window for change is early

Finding rising antibodies or poor conversion early gives you the best chance of protecting your thyroid and feeling well.

Stages 5–6 · Full diagnostic work-up and in-depth care

Stage 5

Still struggling

On medication with a normal TSH, but symptoms persist. Requiring a full diagnostic work-up with specialist labs and in-depth care.

Stage 6

Complex

Several autoimmune or hormone problems at once, needing in-depth, joined-up care alongside your medical team.

These stages are an illustrative guide to how thyroid problems often progress, not a clinical scale or a prediction. If you have any urgent symptoms, see your GP promptly or call 999.
